CONUNDRUM R&D 2017
ARCOLA THEATRE · OCTOBER 2017
SYNOPSIS
Written and directed Paul Anthony Morris
Conundrum is an epic drama revealing extraordinary insights into how highly intelligent gifted individuals suffering from the condition, selective social mutism, are using the medium of the arts to fight back against their anonymity and exclusion from society.
After enduring lengthy periods of isolation our protagonist, Fidel, emerges to conduct a public personal life review in order to identify where his greatest battle for self-worth lies. Seduced initially into critiquing society, Fidel, suddenly becomes alarmed by the prospect that he has also been responsible for undermining his own well-being. Perplexed by this conundrum Fidel embarks upon an enthralling magical journey to highlight the tremendous capacity of the human spirit by wrestling with some of life’s most urgent questions – ‘Who am I and why am I here’.
